Grants Administration Apprentice

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Suffolk Community Foundation grants team as a Grants Administration Apprentice.

Suffolk Community Foundation is at the heart of the community and you will provide essential support to the Grants Manager and Grants Officers to ensure the smooth flow of grant applications from start to finish.

If you are a conscientious and articulate person demonstrating a ‘can do’ attitude towards your work then this is the ideal role for you.

You will join a passionate, professional and friendly team based in the beautiful Peninsula Business Centre, Suffolk.



  • Create grant promotion flyers and e-bulletins
  • Process online grant applications, chase incomplete applications and input manual forms
  • Record grants panel results on the database
  • Generate letters
  • Keep website up-to-date with fund criteria and current application deadlines
  • Support Grants Officers with administrative tasks related to compliance, generating grant documents, and mailing grant agreements and grant cheques
  • Assist groups to apply for funds with advice/information on the application process
  • Deal with grant enquiries and requests
  • Chase and process monitoring reports for awarded grants
  • Any other tasks which may be assigned or requested to ensure the smooth running of the Grants and Operational areas


Skills and personal attributes 

  • Ability to work well as part of a team as well as using own initiative
  • Polite and professional telephone manner
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
  • A good level of English spelling, grammar and numeracy skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)

Full training and support will be given. Business Administration training support will be provided by Ginger Nut Training.

About Ginger Nut Training

As part of the apprenticeship you will be working towards a BTEC Level 2-4 Diploma in Business Administration depending on experience.  Ginger Nut Training is an award-winning apprenticeship training provider.  By undertaking an apprenticeship with Ginger Nut Training, you will benefit from in-house training from an expert assessor, visits booked ahead and planned around your needs, one-to-one support, monthly visits and email/telephone contact in between.  Plus, you will have access to a personalised online learning platform which acts as your e-portfolio and allows you to track your progress throughout your time with us.  The course content itself will be tailored to your role and will allow you to build on your experience to date.    All of our apprenticeships support the development of new skills, confidence and competence, allowing you to progress in your career whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification in your chosen field.

Monday to Friday 9.00 a.m. – 5.00 p.m.
