As an independent charity, we are a member of a national movement of community foundations that facilitates philanthropy and contributes to achieving positive social change in our local communities. Over the past eleven years, through the generosity of our fund holders, donors and strategic partners, we have distributed over £15 million to local charities and community groups and manage funds under endowment of more than £10 million.

Periodically we seek to recruit additional trustees who will add to the skills and knowledge of its Board.  We would particularly welcome applicants who will bring expertise in one or more of the following areas;

  • voluntary sector
  • social welfare
  • business, technology and entrepreneurship
  • fund development

The Board’s role is to help provide strategic direction, as well as to monitor, scrutinise and support the Foundation’s work.  As a member of the Board you will have clear commitment to our vision and a passion to make a difference in Suffolk.

Membership of the Board is unremunerated, but reasonable expenses may be reimbursed.  We hold quarterly Board Meetings, but trustees are expected to sit on committees that complement their interests and knowledge. A commitment of approximately 10 days per annum is typical.

This is an outstanding opportunity to contribute to the strategic leadership of the Foundation and to help maintain its position as a leading community grant maker.
