Leiston Citizens Advice offer free, independent, impartial and confidential advice on a range of issues including benefits, housing, debt, employment and family relationships. It is an independent charity, whilst also being part of the national organisation.
The grant will enable advisers at Leiston, Saxmundham & District CAB (LSDCAB) to increase its support of older and vulnerable people using ICT technology and telephones, allowing them to assist approx 11,000 people across this north east part of the county. This will ensure that they have vital support, connecting them with the community for help with accessing foodbanks, essential shopping, collection of medication and support through social isolation. A grant will go towards technology (laptops, mobile phones etc.) and some staff and volunteer costs.
As a small office with 6 part time members of staff, and 30 volunteers, we were not set up to work remotely. With the funding you have given us, it has enabled our staff to work with reliable equipment from their own homes. We very much appreciate the support you have given us, which has helped to smooth a stressful transition into these new ways of working, thus being able to play an important role when our clients need us.
