Suffolk Community Foundation is delighted to welcome Jane Millar to the Board of Trustees. Jane started her NHS career on the Management Trainee pathway and after holding senior positions at two acute hospitals, she went on to manage two mental health hospitals. The hospitals provided care and treatment for mothers and babies, children and families and young people as well as adult acute care and addiction services. This experience consolidated Jane’s life long interest in promoting good mental health and emotional well-being alongside a passion to support families.
To that end, she re-trained as a practitioner and spent time working in the VCSE sector, supporting individuals, couples and families.
More recently, Jane has been a publicly elected Governor of the Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust and until last year, she was an ex-officio Director of Healthwatch Suffolk. These two roles deepened her engagement with VCSE organisations in Suffolk.
I have been humbled to witness the ongoing challenges faced by some in our communities and I have been privileged to be part of organisations that help.
Having been born in Suffolk, I am very happy to be living in my home county again and I am at my happiest when I’m by (not on!) the sea on our wonderful coast. I just wish I could persuade at least one of our three children to return to Suffolk.
I am excited and greatly looking forward to contributing to the work of the Board of Trustees of Suffolk Community Foundation and I will enjoy meeting more members of the team soon.
A very warm welcome, Jane!
