One Big Multicultural Festival is set to return to Alexandra Park in Ipswich on July 23rd this year with a party like no other!
The event is a celebration of Suffolk’s many cultures and brings communities together. Previously held in September, this year the festival will take place in July.
The event, organised by the BSC Multicultural Services (BSCMS), will see a host of activities run throughout the day.
People will be able to experience music, food and children’s entertainment from around the world.
The launch was attended by members of our grants team, Olena Kushakovska and Tracey Fuller, plus representatives from Ipswich Borough Council, Suffolk County Council and BSC Multicultural Services.
Mojlum Khan, organiser of the event for the past 11 editions, said: “We’ve got a packed programme this year, just as in previous years.
“We have people from all different backgrounds performing, African, Brazilian, Bangladeshi, European and here in Britain, so the stage performances will be very diverse and inclusive.
“It’s unlike any other cultural event that takes place in Ipswich.”
Boshor Ali, chairperson of BSC Multicultural Services, said: “This is the 11th year of this unique festival and it is taking place earlier this year and all are welcome.
“I am really looking forward to it.”
Melanie Craig, CEO of Suffolk Community Fondations said:
‘’It’s wonderful to see The Big Multicultural Festival become such a positive and much-anticipated highlight in the annual calendar of events in Suffolk.
BSC Multicultural Services continues to collaborate brilliantly with so many other local organisations and volunteers to deliver a really special event. What they have created together offers everyone the opportunity to immerse themselves in so many different aspects of our incredibly rich and diverse culture.
As the CEO of Suffolk Community Foundation and an Ipswich person born and bred, I’m certain that this year’s festival will be the best yet and would encourage everyone to go along, make new friends, enjoy new experiences and have fun together!’’
The festival will run on Sunday, July 23 at Alexandra Park from 12:00-18:00 and is free to attend.
