Suffolk Community Foundation manages 136 grant making funds and, last year, awarded £3.8 million in funding (excluding the Sizewell C Community Fund). Grant size ranges from £500 to £40,000 or above, sometimes over multiple years. The average amount awarded was £4,546.

A client first contacted me to ask if she could claim Carer’s Allowance (CA) for her husband who has Prostrate Cancer and Spinal Spondylosis. I explained that she could if her husband was already on Attendance Allowance (AA), Personal Independence Payment (PIP) or Disability Living Allowance (DLA.
The system is complex and not easy to navigate. Digging deeper into their circumstances, I learned that they were both elderly and that her husband uses a stair lift and has a walking frame seat in the shower and they are now having a wet room fitted.
I helped with the application form for AA and he was awarded higher rate AA and we got CA for his wife. We also helped with getting him a blue badge and pension credit, council tax reduction. They were both thrilled with the outcome.
