Suffolk Community Foundation (SCF) has appointed Hannah Bloom at its new Chief Executive.

Hannah, who is currently the Foundation’s Director of Philanthropy and Engagement, will take up her new role in February.

She brings with her extensive charity and voluntary services experience after spending more than two decades working in the sector, most recently as Director of Income Generation at St Elizabeth Hospice.

Hannah has also held senior positions with East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices and Suffolk Age UK, which have given her a strong understanding of the challenges facing local charities and the difference which organisations such as Suffolk Community Foundation can make.

“I am delighted to have been appointed as SCF’s new Chief Executive,” said Hannah, who lives in the county with her husband and two teenage sons. “The Foundation is well-placed to develop philanthropic giving in the county, support donors in their grant-making and work with charities to help meet their most urgent needs.

“As the largest independent grant-maker in Suffolk, we must also be a voice for the voluntary sector as it faces increased demand, rising costs and reducing resources. I will therefore continue to develop our relationships with sector leaders to help the county’s voluntary organisations to thrive.

“I look forward to working with the team, the Board of Trustees, stakeholders and volunteers on the next, exciting phase of our development, which includes marking our 20th anniversary in 2025.”

George Vestey DL, Chair of Suffolk Community Foundation, said: “We welcome Hannah as our new Chief Executive and look forward to supporting her and the team as they continue to make a lasting positive difference to the Suffolk community.

“Since joining the Foundation, Hannah has made a significant contribution to the focus and ethos as well as shaping the direction and connectivity of our philanthropy and grant-making work.

“We would also like to pass our thanks to Anna Hughes for taking on the role of Interim CEO over recent months. She has brought continuity, supported the team and driven forward our plans with enthusiasm and energy.

“Anna will work closely with Hannah over the coming weeks to hand over the reins and ensure a smooth and seamless transition into her new CEO role.”
